As the Wisconsin primary will occur late in the cycle, our focus will be on identifying Iowa residents on our campus and taking frequent trips to Iowa to volunteer.
Executive Board
Ami ElShareif - Chair
"My name is Ami ElShareif and I am very excited to be serving as your new Chair of Students for Obama. As an Illinois resident, I have been following Senator Obama for years and I am consistently inspired by his leadership. He is the candidate that embodies what America needs most. His message of hope and change connects with each individual on a personal level.
Senator Obama is the student’s candidate and the candidate that best identifies with the issues that students and young adults face today. This election is extremely important and students are going to play an integral role in making sure that Senator Obama is elected. Here at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, we have already made significant strides in helping the campaign. From our kickoff to the Madison Obama rally to our trips to Iowa, our student turnout has been remarkable.
As Chair of Students for Obama, I work closely with the extremely talented members of the Executive Board and our volunteer as well as serve as a liaison to the national campaign to ensure we are making all the necessary efforts in this election. As with all Presidential elections, the state of Iowa is vital in the nomination process. Here at UW-Madison, we are in a unique position to seriously affect the Iowa Caucus and to help Senator Obama win the nomination. I encourage you to join our organization as we still have many goals this semester in order to ensure Senator Obama wins the Democratic nomination and is then elected President of the United States. This campaign is about is about you. You have the opportunity to make history, so let’s get to work!
If you have any questions or comments, feel free to contact me!"

Erik Opsal - Communications
"I'm Erik, and I'm the Communications Chair for SFO. I help develop the message of our campaign here on campus, which includes chalkings, flyers, Facebook and Online outreach, literature, and most of the writing that we do. My goal is to let everyone at UW-Madison know why Senator Barack Obama should and will be the next President of the United States.
Never in our lifetime have we seen a candidate like Obama run for President-someone with the passion, integrity and leadership to make everyone feel excited to be American. It's my job to make sure all of you share this feeling. If you have any ideas of how we can better reach students like yourself on campus, please let me know."

Caroline Gomez - Community Outreach
"Hello, my name is Caroline Gomez and I am the Community Outreach Chair for SFO. I am a sophomore at UW Madison majoring with my focus in political science and with hope for pre-law. I was really excited to have the oppurtunity to get involved with SFO especially with this position. Barack Obama is a great candidate and will be an AMAZING president. I will be the one to bring the fellow student organizations to support the cause of bringing Senator Obama into the democratic nomination as well as in the White House. I will be interacting with as many Obama supporting groups as possible in Madison to build support.
I really believe that Senator Obama is exactly what our nation needs to move into a more peaceful and secure path. He has the positive attributes that one looks for in a politician, but never seems to get from one: honesty and faith in the common good of people. I think if and when we get him into office we will be see magnificant progress for our nation and our people.

Bryon Eagon - Fundraising and Logistics
"My name is Bryon Eagon, and I'm a sophomore majoring in Political Science and Rhetoric. I am excited to be the Fundraising and Logistics Chair with Students for Barack Obama. I will be focusing on raising funds for events, meetings, and trips as well as setting up logistics for these events, meetings, and trips. I work closely with Andy and Ami on making sure our Iowa trips go smoothly.
I have been working on campaigns since the 2000 election when I was 12, and since then have helped out on the campaigns of Sen. Feingold, Dan Flaherty for Congress, Al Gore, Howard Dean, Kerry/Edwards, Sen. Kohl, and Gov.
Doyle. Barack Obama is an extraordinary candidate who offers real change, and I'm excited to play a part in making SFO go day-to-day to ensure we do everything we can to help him win. If you have any ideas for fundraising opportunities, don't hesitate to shoot me an email."

Cameron Marston - New Media
"My name is Cameron Marston. I am New Media Chair for SFO at UW-Madison. My responsibilities include media development such as this website, podcasts, and video spots for YouTube and Facebook. As part of the Communications team, I also help to craft the message of our campaign on campus.
I am now coming into my fourth year of college, though it will only be my second year at UW. I spent my first two years earning an A.S. with Honors in Computer Graphics Technology at Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN. After deciding that I didn't want to end up working in a cubicle for the rest of my life, I chose to finish my Associate's and pursue my Bachelor's Degrees in two fields quite foreign to my technological background: Communications and Political Science.
I've known Andy since the 4th grade and I worked with him on the Fair Wisconsin campaign. Though I've only recently come to know the other six members of the executive board, I felt an instant connection with each of them and know that they will be an incredible group of people to work with.
This election could be decided by students. All we have to do is show up and be counted and this election is ours. This is our chance and I, for one, am not going to miss it."

Lavilla Capener - Visibility
"My name is Lavilla Capener, and I am a sophomore majoring in Political Science and Journalism. As the Visibility Chair of Students for Barack Obama (SFO), I am responsible for spreading the word on campus about our organization and getting students excited about Barack Obama. We need as many volunteers as possible to help Obama win the primary and visibility on campus is crucial to attracting dedicated students to SFO. I will be coordinating visibility displays on campus (such as chalking) and planning creative, inexpensive ways to get people excited about Barack Obama and SFO! My goal is to make sure students on campus not only are aware of SFO, but know that it is a fun, exciting, and remarkable organization.
I will always need volunteers for chalking and lit drops, which are both fun, easy ways to contribute to SFO. Also, I am always looking for volunteers with creative ideas for getting the word out about Obama on the UW-Madison campus! See you in September!"

Shaun Hundle - Volunteer Coordinator
"My name is Shaun Hundle and I am the new Volunteer Coordinator for SFO. I am currently a sophomore, double majoring in Economics and International Studies. As a native Illinoisan, I first began to learn about Barack Obama as he prepared for his historic run for the US Senate in 2004. What I found was an extraordinary human being, a politician who actually listened and empathized with ordinary people, and knew that Americans were sick of slash-and-burn politics and the divisions of red and blue. Barack Obama went on to win a landslide 70% of the vote, with perhaps no High School student in Illinois as excited as I was. Now as Senator Obama runs for the Presidency, we as Americans have a chance to do something revolutionary: change the definition of politics and finally begin to tackle the big problems and divisions in our country.
I have worked closely with Maggie Raiken over the past couple months and I am really excited to be the new Volunteer Coordinator. My main responsibility is to contact and find volunteers for various opportunities on and off campus, including trips to Iowa, chalking, and phone banking. If you have any questions or would like to learn more about how you can get involved, please don’t hesitate to email me at volunteer@uw4obama.com ."
